Freelance outdoor writer with experience in blog writing, newsletters, and storytelling for wilderness brands

Hayley Moser

I had my start in photography at the early age of 8, shooting everything I could find with a Polaroid 600. In 2011, driven by a passion for the outdoors, I left my home state of Minnesota to pursue degrees in Environmental Studies, Biology, and Atmospheric Sciences at CU Boulder, where I also fell in love with writing. After graduation, I spent five years working as a wilderness guide, taking clients hiking, backpacking, climbing and fly fishing in the Rocky Mountain backcountry. Like most folks, the pandemic had me re-evaluating my life and all the dreams I still had yet to accomplish. So after building out a camper-van with the help of my family and friends, I left my life in Colorado and set off to travel. I spent half a year roadtripping across the eastern US and Canada before hopping a flight to Europe to spend three months backpacking. Now, fresh off of my adventures, I’ve decided to plant my roots in the Pacific Northwest.

I am passionate about using storytelling (both visual and literary) to show the beauty of the natural world and the importance of our relationship to it. My work has a heavy focus on the landscapes and the flora and fauna of the American West, as well as our human relationship to these areas. As a lifelong weather geek, I also love capturing nature’s raw power through storm chasing on the High Plains. Now, as a brand new Seattleite, I look forward to documenting my experiences exploring the beautiful PNW and further honing my skills as an outdoor storyteller.
